If you’ve ever wanted to change your default avatar (when the mystery man options aren’t enough), this short tutorial is for you.
Step 1: Open your functions.php of your theme
Step 2: Paste the following code at the end of the file:
Be sure to change WPforall to whatever you want your gravatar to be named.
Step 3: Upload your avatar
Whether you use an FTP client, or the file manager, upload your avatar with the filename ‘gravataricon.gif’ in the /images folder of your theme.
Step 4: Change your Gravatar in the WordPress Dashboard
Go into Settings>Discussion and change your default gravatar.
- If you are using the genesis theme, be sure to upload your image to the main genesis theme folder, rather than your child theme.
- Make sure to save your file as a .gif file
