So in this video, we are going to be talking about how to add a coming soon page and so were just going to be talking about why would you ever want a coming soon page and then plug ins or methods. So, why exactly would you want to do this and from most simple it’s when you’re just launching. When you’re just launching or when you’re adding some type of new feature, that’s what you’ll be going to add a coming soon or were under construction page. So when you have a product, you will have an idea that you want to create but you don’t necessarily have finished the website yet. That’s when you’re just launching or if you’re learning WordPress, like if you’re using this course right now.
You’re going to add that coming soon page just you can work on the back end while the front end people can subscribe to the email list or they won’t be confused by a broken website. They don’t want us to assume that your website is actually broken but in fact, you’re just building it and also changing your theme. So, there’s many type of plug in that you can actually use, the one that you will be using is the ultimate coming soon page but there’s also the easy coming soon page and there’s many, many other ones but this are just the two best that I was able to find.
So what I want to show you right now is actually how to activate the plug in or how to set it up. And so, it’s does not have many settings, we’ll be fairly quick but the first thing being unable. Obviously, you want to enable it eventually but for now, since we’re just setting anything up. Just enable after we get a live preview of it but eventually we click yes. The logo is going to be put up here just like any other logo, any other image that you add. You just put it into the media, image library or do the actually—you’re route through it. If you don’t have a logo, that’s perfectly fine as well.
The next thing is being a headline and description. You just preset or already default text that has already been here. You can change it to whatever you want. We’ll be back soon or we’re currently under construction, it really doesn’t matter but you can add your own little fair to it. But what we really want to show you is this mailing list of the feed burner.
And so, the only option for the free version is to sign up through feed burner with the progression obviously they have more mailing list options. But I think it is always good to have an email list here even from the beginning or if you’re currently updating your website or adding a new feature , then I’ll see that you’re going to have traffic and you want them to just be updated on your progress, whenever it going to be live. And some, I’ll be going to show you how exactly you’re going to do that. So what we are going to do is just, put in [our URL].com/feed because it’s a WordPress domain or presses the word press , it’s using WordPress. This is going to be our RSS feed. So [our URL].com/feed and hopefully everything should work out fine.
We can just WPforall adventures, we’re going to copy this because this is what we need later on and we’ll just going to click next. And we’ll just going to skip over all these things for now. All I want to do is, in order for emails to actually be set up, we’re just going to go publicize and email subscriptions and so from here, all we’re going to do is to click activate. So it’s fairly simple. Just click activate and from there, it’s going to have this little HTML codes that you can add in. That’s mainly for if you want to put your emails sign up box on your side bar or on the page. But in our case, we are going to be eventually using a different series for that.
All we want to know is that, because it shows us this page we know that it is now activated right. Our feed burner account has now activated and specifically, the email set up is activated. So we’re just going to copy our address. Remember, I told you to copy that over and you’re just going to copy that right there. We don’t need everything else because it says, enter the part after the feeds to the feeder.com. So that’s just for you to remember as well, is if you want people to go to your RSS feed using feed burner, that entire URL feeds to dot feeder.com/WPforall adventures. That’s your feed burner URL.
So people can sign up for the RSS feed there. Back on colors, you can select a background colors, a background noise effect, all of these are more for aesthetics. So if you want to put, if you want to change everything there, just press decline. If you don’t, that’s fine as well. And so now, were just going to save changes and so once it says uploaded, were just going to click on live preview. So we’ll see what it looks like when you click the —just to make sure everything is working okay, right?
So this is our normal logo that we have on our members only area for our website, so anything, it just really doesn’t matter. It’s just a demo site and we have some basic text and then enter your email and then, they will click “notify me”. So, everything seems to be working. You can also test if your specific email for feed burner is working right, if you’re just going to test any run random emails to see of it, it’s the right place and we just going to go back to our dashboard and the only thing that we need to do is, ultimately clicking yes. So check the yes and then we click save changes.
So I want to know right now is this, is that because you are activating this coming soon page, we see it’s active right now. That doesn’t mean that whatever you do is going to be necessarily effective but everything you do especially because you’re the admin of your WordPress website, you can still make changes. So don’t think that anything you can really be affected in that sense. I guess what we can show you is what would our website look like right now, as it is as while we are currently logged in. We’ll see what happens. So I just went to wpforalltv.com and as you can see, you guys are probably not here yet but it’s just our actual website, right.

So the admin does not actually see the coming soon page, only people who are none admin or none logged in can do that. And this is just going to be the exact same as you will log in to WordPress normally as your domain.com/wp/admin right. That’s for you just log in and so. That’s what good thing about this plug in, is that nothing for you necessarily changes. It’s more just for the users, so for the front end.
